The Oak Creek Watershed Council (OCWC) and the University of Arizona (UA) presented the first-annual Water Sampling Week at Slide Rock State Park. The event focused on teaching students the importance of water quality, especially on a local level.

ADEQ officials announced today that a $120,040 grant has been awarded to the Oak Creek Watershed Council to assist in controlling polluted runoff into Oak Creek from primarily the Settler’s Rest neighborhood in West Sedona.
This summer, Coconino National Forest managers, along with the City of Sedona, Sedona Fire District, Coconino and Yavapai Counties and State partners, have worked diligently to assess and mitigate hazards caused by the Slide Fire in Oak Creek Canyon. On Wednesday, October 1, most of the National Forest in Oak Creek Canyon will reopen.
