Traffic, Visitation, Litter: Protecting an area that is loved to death

Join us on September 10th for an interactive virtual meeting with Zoom. Learn about the visitor impacts threatening the health of Oak Creek, and what the Oak Creek Watershed Council, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, City of Sedona, and Traffic Matters are working towards with watershed stakeholders and how we are addressing these issues with partner organizations.

Weigh in on necessary behavior changes, appropriate messaging, and a communications strategy.

In the Oak Creek Watershed, harmful recreational use impacts water quality, wildlife habitat, and scenic beauty. These impacts not only threaten the fragile riparian ecosystem but Sedona’s natural resources and quality of life.

Marcie Ellis, Chair of Traffic Matters, will speak about these growing issues and what Traffic Matters is accomplishing in Oak Creek Canyon. Traffic Matters is an action committee of the Oak Creek Property Owners Association. The mission of Traffic Matters is to bring government agencies to the table to mitigate present and future traffic by fostering coordination, cooperation, and communication.
