If you come to a place because it is beautiful, wouldn't you want to leave it that way? These friends of Oak Creek do! A big thank you to this awesome group of people who volunteered their Sunday morning to making Oak Creek healthier and more resilient! Together we cleaned 6 day use areas, removed 143 lbs of trash and recycling material, including 5 diapers! It is frustrating that people can consciously leave behind so much, but it is always incredible to see so many people who are willing to be the change they wish to see in the world. The STREAM Girls Train the Trainers Workshop hosted by Arizona Women of Trout Unlimited was great fun yesterday! Here we are picking macroinvertebrates out of kick nets. We sampled the Salt River east of Phoenix and found a surprising diversity of organisms - mayflies, caddisflies, damselflies, dragonfiles, beetles, planaria, and midge larvae. STREAM = Science, Technology, Recreation, Engineering, Art, and Math. If you want get involved with STREAM Girls, check out Arizona Women of Trout Unlimited. This is a TU/Girl Scouts of America collaboration.
